In 2000 Marylou began her Reiki journey, for the initial purpose of her own healing. In 2001 she earned her certificate as a Modern Reiki Master and Teacher. It was not ’til 2010 that Marylou traveled to Califirnail to study Reiki for animals with Kathleen Prassad. Kathleen introduced Marylou to Reiki from the Japanese perspective, this new direction truly felt right for Marylou. That lead Marylou to Kathleen’s teacher Frans Steine, the Founder of the International House of Reiki and a Reiki Master/Teacher. He has researched and written many books on the history of the system of Reiki from its beginning in 1922 in Japan and including its founder, Mikao Usui. Marylou received her Certification in Animal Reiki from Kathleen and continued and expanded upon her training with Frans along with taking courses in Energy Healing for Animals, as well as attending Reiki retreats to continue her learning and growth. Personal growth is an important pillar of the System of Reiki, Marylou mediates everyday to work on her own growth and learning about herself.
Marylou’s philosophy is that in Reiki, energy flows through her and the animal takes what they need. This is why personal growth is so important. If you picture a stream flowing down a path it is smooth and calm until it hits rocks and stones causing that smooth flow to become chaotic, with rapids that toss the stream off course. Reiki is the water and it flows through Marylou to the animals. Through meditation she works to clear the rocks that have ended up there from life’s experiences. She uses the System of Reiki and meditation to give the Reiki energy the clearest path to the animal.
Marylou has worked with both domestic and wild animals, including large tigers all the way down to tiny baby rabbits. Her loving heart connection and Reiki healing energy is available for them all.
