Within moments of stepping off the airplane in the Masai Mara, Marylou was taking pictures of a mother lion and her cubs up on mound of dirt surveying the vast landscape. In that moment she was captivated, she was face to face with these majestic creatures and that privilege stirred something inside her. It was in that moment, from behind the camera lens, she not only captured the image in front of her, but also the love and excitement she had for being there with animals. In that moment everything clicked.
Marylou had always had a love for photography, since her time at Miss Porters when she would work in the dark room, but it was upon her return from Africa when she realized that animals were her best subjects. The images she captured had created a buzz among her friends, people wanted prints and she realized that when she combined her two loves, they both came together.
